Inside the shop

I spy...someone I don't know, Lanny Edwards(?), MAYBE Stretch, My Dad, another unknown (to me), Dano and Tate (RIP, buddy) sitting at the table. Tate owned this Panhead.

I remember seeing this couple around, but can't remember their names to save my ass. The tattoo artist is RC Foster, who came in quite a few times back then, even gave me a few.

Haaaagh, Dano LOOKS like he must be in trouble. That's my Mom.

The old man, behind the counter on a rare slow day.

David Lyles, who worked there on occasion. Most of the time, I remember Tate being Dano's right hand man.

Sporty Round Up!

Aaah, girl's bikes..seems like just about EVERYBODY had one back then. I thought they were pretty damned cool..the first two bikes I fell in love with were a rigid Sporty drag bike (I'll post that one when I run across it again) and any Panhead (I have a few of those to post, too, hehehe)...here's a few of the Sportys running around, and there'll be more.
I guess the magic left me when I scrapped both of my legs kicking a '68 XLCH and hyperextended my right leg, then, later, the pedal came back and kicked the ever loving dogshit outta my left one. Nothing to do but drink more beer at that point.

Busy couple of days

But here's some "new" pics from in front of the shop. The line up of bikes was a pretty typical daily show.

Seriously, I guess this was the way to go in '85. Watch out for pipe burn.

The Shortster

One of the coolest bikes ever, this was the Shortster. Junior Cranfill (who STILL works for HD dealer in Salisbury, NC) built/had built this kick ass ironhead for his less than towering height. One of my favorite bikes and a supercool dude.

Supercycle's SuperVee small block Chevy quartered and adapted to a motorcycle frame. It was supposed to be the first American made new V-Twin company since....dinosaurs walked the Earth. My dad was going to start selling them..this was possibly at the Metrolina Fair Grounds in '86.

Anyone remember the 800 number you could call to hear them? And all the hype in the magazine?

Here's a link to the story of the Super Vee

Dano Bilt

THIS is Danny "Dano" Simmons, one of the sharpest Harley mechanics around...and he's always got a joke (I use that term loosely)to tell.
Dano bought and still owns Cyclone Cycle, in it's new location..and still has the Bounty Hunter (pictured) and every other bike he's ever owned. He's an awesome guy and would give the shirt off his back, although he'd kick my ass for saying that. He's able to maintain the hang out atmosphere of the shop, which is what makes it unique..bar stools and cigarettes, and the occasional 'shine, omnipresent smell of gear oil and the sound of WRFX playing in the background..some things only change a little.

Sweet Pan, period color

Nice panhead. I can't remember who's it was, but it sits great.
